The tentatively titled The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past is set to be written by Stephen Colbert, Philippa Boyens, and Peter McGee. The trio will team up with the creative wizards behind the New Line franchise—Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Boyens herself.

It’s no secret that Colbert is a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan, and honestly, that just makes this collaboration all the more exciting. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what they create together.
